Windows 10 and 11, x64 · interface in Russian · free for personal use · no account needed

Features

Two sides of one record.

Side A is about connecting, side B is about routes: what goes through the VPN and what goes direct.

Side Aconnection

  1. A1

    Protocols

VLESS with Reality and XTLS Vision, VMess, Trojan, Shadowsocks, Hysteria2, TUIC and WireGuard.

  2. A2

    Subscriptions

They update themselves and show the remaining traffic and expiry date when the panel provides them.

  3. A3

    Automatic server choice

The core measures latency through the tunnel and keeps the connection alive.

  4. A4

    Tray controls

Switch servers and connect without opening the window.

  5. A5

    One-file transfer

Move all your settings to another computer in a single file.

Side Broutes

  1. B1

    Apps

Send all apps through the VPN, only the selected ones, or everything except them.

  2. B2

    Sites

Everything through the VPN with an exclusion list — or the other way round: direct, with only a list going through the tunnel.

  3. B3

    Ready-made sets

Russian banks, Gosuslugi and Russian sites can go direct right away.

  4. B4

    Traffic screen

See where everything is going right now: through the VPN or around it.

  5. B5

    Kill switch

While Vinyl is running, nothing leaves around the tunnel.

Interface

Your own space online.

A quiet dark interface: connection, speed and server on a single screen.

The Vinyl home screen: the connect button, the record, speed and the selected server

Getting started

Three steps.

  1. Download the archive

One ZIP for Windows 10 or 11. There is no installer: the app runs straight from its folder.

  2. Unpack the whole folder

Not just vinyl.exe: the core, the driver and the lists sit next to it, and the app cannot connect without them.

  3. Add your server

Open «Серверы» (Servers), choose «Вставить из буфера» (Paste from clipboard), then connect from the home screen.

You bring your own subscription or key: your own server or one from your provider. There is no Vinyl account, and there never will be.

Liner notes

Vinyl, honestly.

What the app does to your system and what it does not promise yet.

  1. 01

    No account

There is no Vinyl account and there never will be. The servers are yours, your own or your provider’s; none are included.

  2. 02

    Everything next to the app

Settings, logs and the server list live in the data folder. uninstall.exe removes the Start menu shortcut and the Programs and Features entry — that is all the app adds to the system.

  3. 03

    Admin rights only to connect

Tunnel mode takes all system traffic and asks for administrator rights when you connect, not at launch. System proxy mode needs no rights but only catches apps that use the Windows proxy.

  4. 04

    Self-signed signature

Windows does not know this certificate, so SmartScreen warns you on first launch. No need to turn protection off: check the checksum instead — it is more reliable.

  5. 05

    Kill switch while running

While Vinyl is running, nothing leaves around the tunnel. If the app is closed or crashes, Windows removes the filters itself: your connection comes back, but without protection.

  6. 06

    Leak testing in progress

IPv4, IPv6 and DNS leaks have not yet been checked with traffic capture on a test bench. Until they are, we do not promise there are none.

Verification
